Editorial Policy & Methodology

India Gov Schemes is an independently run information service that explains Indian central and state government schemes in plain language, in English and Hindi. This page sets out who maintains the site, where our information comes from, how we turn official material into a readable scheme page, and how we keep it accurate. We publish this openly so you can judge how far to trust what you read here.

Who runs this site

India Gov Schemes is built and maintained by an independent editorial team — Aditya Thakur and Shubham Chauhan — not by any government department or agency. We are not a government body, we do not process applications, and we never charge a fee to view scheme information. The site is funded by advertising so that the content can stay free for everyone.

Our aim is narrow and practical: help ordinary people find schemes they may be eligible for and understand how to apply, then send them to the correct official portal to complete the process.

Where our information comes from

Every scheme page is built from official, public government sources. Our primary references include:

  • The National Government Services Portal and myScheme (myscheme.gov.in)
  • Individual ministry, department and scheme websites (for example pmkisan.gov.in, pmjay.gov.in)
  • Official notifications, guidelines and the Press Information Bureau (pib.gov.in)
  • State government portals for state-specific schemes

How we turn a source into a scheme page

We do not copy government text. For each scheme we extract the underlying facts — who is eligible, what the benefit is, the documents needed and how to apply — and then rewrite them in our own clear, neutral language, in both English and Hindi.

On top of that we add structured elements designed to save you time: a key-facts table, who is not eligible, a step-by-step application guide, a troubleshooting section for common problems, frequently asked questions, and links to related schemes you might also qualify for. The same structured eligibility data powers our free eligibility checker, so the page and the checker can never contradict each other.

How we keep it accurate

Government schemes change — amounts, dates and rules are revised regularly — so accuracy is an ongoing effort, not a one-time claim.

  • Every scheme page links to its official source so you can verify the details first-hand.
  • Key facts such as amounts, interest rates and deadlines are checked against the official portal before publishing, and we show a verification date where available.
  • We review and re-check content periodically, and prioritise corrections that readers report to us.
  • Where a figure is time-sensitive (for example an instalment date), we tell you to confirm the latest position on the official portal.

Our independence and limits

India Gov Schemes is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the Government of India or any state government. We link to official portals only as references, not as partners.

We do not collect or submit your application, we never ask for your bank, Aadhaar or payment details, and any action that involves money or personal documents should be completed only on the official government portal.

Found something wrong? Tell us

Accuracy matters to us, and reader corrections are one of the fastest ways we improve. If you spot an error, an out-of-date figure, or a broken link, please get in touch and we will review and fix it.

This site provides general information only and is not legal, financial or official government advice. Always confirm the latest details on the official scheme portal before applying.
