What the internship offers
The Indirect Tax Internship Scheme lets law students and young law graduates work with the Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs (CBIC) and learn how indirect-tax and customs law works in practice. Law students receive a stipend of ₹5,000 a month and law graduates ₹15,000 a month; the internship runs for two months, extendable to three, and a certificate is awarded on satisfactory completion. It is a small, competitive scheme — about 10 law students and 10 law graduates are taken each year.
Who can apply
The internship is for law students and fresh graduates. You are eligible if:
- You are enrolled in a 3-year or 5-year LLB programme, or
- You are a law graduate who completed the degree within the last two years
- You can commit to the internship without taking any other job or course during it
How to apply
Apply by email in the prescribed self-attested format, following the current CBIC internship notice. Attach a passport-size photograph, your Aadhaar, proof of address and proof of educational qualification. Because the contact email and exact format are set in each year’s notice, use the current advertisement rather than an old address. Note that interns can take a maximum of two days’ leave a month, and the certificate is issued only on completing the minimum period.
