The Kabir Puraskar Scheme awards individuals for acts of courage promoting communal harmony during violence.

Benefits

Beneficiaries receive a one-time cash award of ₹200,000, ₹100,000, or ₹50,000 depending on the grade of the award, along with a certificate and citation.

Indian citizens of any gender can apply for the award, provided they are not government employees or members of the armed forces. Individuals who have received other awards for the same act of courage are typically excluded from eligibility.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted through State Governments or Union Territory Administrations.

  1. Obtain the nomination form from the relevant State Government or UT Administration.
  2. Complete the nomination form with required details and documents.
  3. Submit the nomination to the State Government or UT Administration for recommendation.
  4. The proposal will be reviewed by a Screening Committee for approval.
  5. The final recommendations will be forwarded to the Union Home Minister and the Prime Minister for approval.
