Housing schemes: help to build or buy a home
Housing schemes help families move from a kutcha or rented house into a pucca home of their own. Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana is the flagship: its Gramin arm gives rural families a direct construction grant, while the Urban arm offers an interest subsidy on home loans for eligible buyers. State housing boards and slum-redevelopment schemes add further options.
Which one fits depends on where you live and whether you are building or borrowing — rural construction grants and urban loan subsidies follow very different routes.
